8. REGENERATION
We believe that in order to be saved every sinner must be regenerated or born again; that the
agents in this new birth are the Word of God and the Holy Spirit; that these two work together
in the heart and mind bringing conviction of sin and conversion; that proper evidence appears in
the Holy fruits of Repentance, faith, and newness of life; that by it we become partakers of the divine nature and a transformed life; leading us to a Christian love of all men and to practice
righteousness; that one is born again or regenerated the moment he believes in the Lord Jesus
Christ as Savior. (Jn 3:3-7; II Cor 5:17; Ezek 36:26; Rom 2:28,29; Jn 3:8; Jn 1:13; James 1:16-
18; I Pet 1:22-25; I Jn 5:1; Eph 4:20-24; Eph 5:9; Rom 8:9; Gal 5:16-23; Eph 3:14-21).
Accept Jesus as Savior
Regeneration or New birth is necessary for salvation / Jesus is the way of salvation
Jesus said - John 3:3-7 “Ye must be born again”
I John 5:1 “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God”
Agents of New Birth
Will of God-II Pet 3:9 God is “longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish ,
but that all should come to repentance.”
Jn 1:12, 13 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the
sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood,
nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
Word of God-James 1:18 “ Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth”
Rom 10:17 “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”
Work of God- by the Holy Spirit- Titus 3:5, I Pet 1:22-25, John 16:7-11
Matt 18:3 Except ye be converted, and become
as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom
Bring conviction & conversion-II Cor 7:10 “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation”
Appearance
of New Fruit
Life anew - II Cor 5:17 “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature”
Old fruit of flesh, vs new fruit of Spirit-Rom 8:9 they that are in the flesh cannot please God

An Example of Regeneration
The Jailer, in Acts 16, imprisoned & beat Paul, then, got saved and washed Paul’s stripes
Abrupt Regeneration
Abrupt-a sudden change, instantaneous, happening in a moment or a twinkling of the eye
Regenerate- change from a natural to a spiritual state, to give fresh life to by grace of God
Born again, the moment faith is placed in Christ
At Once Taken in the Rapture
Abrupt-a sudden change, instantaneous, happening in a moment or a twinkling of the eye
Rapture-“Harpazo” to catch away, snatch, pluck or suddenly transport or remove to another place
At the rapture-I Cor 15:51-58, I Thes 4:13-18
We shall be changed
Raptured, the moment Christ appears for His church
